Missoula: Day 5

It's my last full day in Missoula before heading to the Windy City.  The day starts in typical Edinburgh fashion: leaden skies and rain.  I leave the house and head for the Blue Mountain trail head.  It's still raining when I get there but the skies are clearing and gradually the rain ceases.  Time to go for a walk.  Compared with the 'L', this is a doodle - no chance of getting lost!  No matter where I am i can see a radio mast towering above the horizon.  All I have to do is walk towards it to get back to the car.

By the time I finish my walk it's getting towards lunch time so I head down town.  As I'm driving up Brooks Street I realise that there's a store which I need to go visit: Bob Wards.  It's a store which specializes in sporting goods and outdoor equipment.  I am looking for a pair of pants (American term, not British!).  I find the Columbia rack and find some in the style I like and at a price which is good - down from $65 to $39.99!  There's a small (or should I say 'big') problem - I can't find any in my size 30"x30".  In fact, there is nothing in the store which would fit me!  It seems that the American male's waistline is expanding to the point whre noone has a 30" waist anymore.

Time for some food, so I head north along Brooks Street until I see a familiar landmark - the Book Exchange store.  I'm not going there but to the restaurant next door, a place that Jake Jensen introduced me to last year.  I indulge in sugar overload: waffles with peaches in syrup and whipped cream.

One of the things on my bucket list from my last visit is Fort Missoula and so I head there.  I must admit that it was a bit of a disappointment: not really a fort but a collection of items brought in from elsewhere.

After Fort Missoula, I head west on South Avenue West and then double back towards Blue Mountain Road.  I'm looking for somewhere to get some pictures of the Bitterroot River and soon find a place to park by Maclay Flats.

Then I head 'home' for some dinner and then I'm heading for Baskin-Robbins with Lindsay for some time together (and some ice-cream!)

Bubble-gum ice cream!!!!  Three scoops!!!!!  Lindsay was not feeling so good afterwards but it was good just to hang out together.
